Composite - GRP

GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) fiberglass gratings are a relatively new and modern alternative in the global grating market.

Properties: corrosion resistance, fire resistance, low electrical conductivity, durability, maintenance-free, impact resistance, anti-slip, UV resistance, light weight.

Although comparing metal and plastic gratings it should be noted that it’s an average data that depends on the weight of a metal grating that can be increased or decreased depending on the thickness of the carrier strip so a metal grating can weigh both less and more than a fiberglass grating.

GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) fiberglass gratings are a modern alternative to metal gratings. No doubt that the casting of fiberglass gratings provides a huge choice of shapes, moreover the possibility of using the most modern types of resins for such production makes the gratings more practical and reliable than even metal ones. The features of this type of gratings are high corrosion resistance, fire resistance, low electrical conductivity and durability.

Such gratings do not require frequent maintenance, have high impact resistance UV resistance and, for sure, they are much lighter than metal ones and can be provided with an additional anti-slip coating at the request of the customer (see attached photos). 

The only difficulty for a customer can be a choice of the right source material, so the following tips will help make the choice easier for you.

ORTHO-NFR:

• Orthophtalic Non-Fire Retardant
• Orthophtalic resin, developed for applications that only require corrosion resistance
• Color: Steel grey (RAL 9006)

ORTHO-FR:

• Orthophtalic Fire Retardant
• Orthophtalic resin, developed for applications that require corrosion resistance
• Fire retardant
• Self-extinguishing
• Color: Grey (RAL 7040)

ISO-FR:

• Isophthalic Fire Retardant
• Isophthalic resin, for most applications in corrosive and chemical aggressive environments
• Fire retardant
• Self-extinguishing
• Color: Green (RAL 6010)

FD-FR:

• Food Approved Isophthalic Fire Retardant
• Isophthalic resin, special resin mix for the Food & Beverage industry and most corrosive and chemical aggressive environments 
• Fire retardant
• Self-extinguishing
• Color: Light-grey (RAL 7035)

VE-FR:

• Vinylester Fire Retardant Vinylester resin for high chemical resistance    
• Fire retardant
• Self-extinguishing
• Color: Orange (RAL 2002)
